Toys to Trust?

All of these problems with toys are getting scary. The latest? Kids going into coma from ingesting AquaDots.

That's it. My kids are getting money, a wooden toy that some guy carves, and beignets from Cafe Du Monde.

Quote spoken directly to me the other day - from a man who invents popular children's playthings: "Kelly? What you don't know about these recalls is this - do you know how much lead it would take to hurt a kid? It would take ingesting all kinds of it over a long period of time...."

I still don't want lead... but there you have it -from the horse's mouth.

Kell, does that guy have children? Is he ignorant of the fact that lead is more harmful to children whose nervous system is still in development? Sure, he might know some things, but he's not the one in charge of my kids and their health.

Some kids still live in dwellings with lead in the paint. Some children chew on toys an excessive amount.

And, at the beginning of every day a parent has events that they cannot control which could affect their children. We can keep toys with even a tiny amount of lead or toxic chemical away from our kids.

I'm actually in the planning stages for a post regarding this issue. I'm no expert, but I've had my own issues with mandatory testing of blood lead levels.
